On Monday the California Department of Food and Agriculture’s Medical Cannabis Cultivation Program (MCCP) launched an online survey. The MCCP is preparing to issue state cannabis cultivation licenses beginning in January 2018. CDFA is seeking to get a sense of how many applicants the State can expect to apply for licensure or use the Track and Trace system.
“Participating in this survey is probably one of the most important things growers can do to ensure that licenses will be available for as many farms as possible. The regulatory agency needs to have a solid understanding of how many growers there are and where people are growing,” explained Hezekiah Allen, the Executive Director of the California Growers Association. “For growers in ban counties, participating in this survey may be one of the most important ways to raise awareness of the challenges being caused by regressive policies at the local level.”
The survey was built with sensitivity to the growing community in mind. The Department explains that they will not be capturing any information that would indicate who is submitting information through this survey. “This survey is completely anonymous. It is short and sweet. There is no cost. There is no good reason not to participate,” urged Allen. “If you have trouble with the survey because of lack of access to internet or a language barrier, or any other challenges really, please feel free to reach out to Cal Growers for assistance. We want to make sure that all growers have equal opportunity to be a part of the regulated future. And the regulated future starts with participating in this survey.”
