Compliance Testing

Cannabis and cannabis products, regulated by the Colorado Marijuana Enforcement Division (MED), require third-party laboratory testing to ensure safety and potency compliance. Sampling procedures are regulated by the CDPHE. Be sure to check both of their websites for the latest regulations.

* Mycotoxins are required on solvent-based concentrates made from flower or trim that failed microbial testing; concentrates made from wet whole plants that were not tested for microbials; or flower, shake or trim that has undergone decontamination.

** Microbiological Contaminants are required on solvent-based concentrates that were produced through Remediation or from Regulated Marijuana wet whole plant that was not tested for microbials

*** Audited products require Total Aerobic Plate Count, Staphylococcus aureus, Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Bile tolerant gram-negative bacteria, and Candida albicans.

What is a test batch?

A test batch is a group of samples that are derived from a single harvest batch, production batch, or Inventory Tracking System package, and that are collectively submitted for testing purposes.

Cannabis Flower Batch Sizes

The weight of your harvest batch will determine the number of sample increments and the size of your test package. A harvest batch includes regulated cannabis flower, shake, kief, and trim.

* Microbial testing requires at least 3 grams.

We require at least 8 grams of plant material to perform a full panel.

Cannabis Concentrate Batch Sizes

The weight of your Production Batch will determine the number of Sample Increments and the size of your Test Package. A concentrate batch includes solvent-based, heat/pressure-based, and water-based concentrates.

*Our Colorado microbial contamination tests require a minimum 6g sample in its own container.

EXAMPLE: if a Production Batch of 4,000 Vaporizer Delivery Devices is manufactured, with each Vaporizer Delivery Device containing 500 milligrams of Marijuana Concentrate, the Production Batch would contain 2,000 grams of Marijuana Concentrate, which would require the collection of at least 15 Sample Increments per Test Batch. But in this case, the manufacturer would have to collect 16 Sample Increments for testing (8 vaporizer Delivery Devices in final form).

*Other serving amounts per unit are acceptable. These are provided as examples.

EXAMPLE:
If a Production Batch of 4,000 chocolate bars is manufactured, with each bar containing 100 mg THC and 10 servings per bar, the Production Batch would contain 40,000 Sample Increments which would require the collection of at least 33 Sample Increments per Test Batch. But in this case, the manufacturer would have to collect 40 Sample Increments for testing (4 complete chocolate bars in final form).

  • Lab minimum sample is 10 grams of viscous extracts, 16 grams of infused product, and 18 grams for vape cartridges.
  • Sampling is conducted on products in final retail form.

Vaporizer Delivery Device Batch Sizes

The size of your production batch will determine the number of Vaporizer Delivery Devices that you will need to submit for testing.
